Chapter 3: "Faith"

It’s me again,

Another day another chapter. This part of the book was dedicated to “faith”.

What is FAITH?

Whenever I would go to church or be in a certain situation that seemed hard to understand/comprehend or if something seemed as if it was never going to be placed in my favor, I tend to hear a voice in my head, or someone say that I must have “faith” but what do I or they actually mean by that? I guess the word started to become some generic cliche thing that subconsciously exited the minds of many as word vomit, in my opinion, but I was missing the actual message…until…. I came across it in this chapter (thank God for books):

“Faith is a state of mind which may be induced, or created, by affirmation or repeated instructions to the subconscious mind, through the principle of autosuggestion.”

The chapter also stated that the emotions of faith, love and sex are the most powerful of all the major positive emotions and when the 3 are blended, they have the effect of “coloring” thought in such a way that it instantly reaches the subconscious mind, where it is changed into its spiritual equivalent, the only form that induces a response from infinite intelligence.

A deep desire backed by faith will eventually come to fruition as the physical equivalent counterpart IF persistent action is a part of the picture. Whatever a man thinketh, so is he. What is feeding your brain, the psychological dimension of your being? Is what is being placed inside of it or being fed to it positive, constructive thoughts? Or negative, destructive thoughts?

Some vocab for the day:

  • induce: succeed in persuading or leading (someone) to do something; bring about or give rise to.

  • abhor: regard with disgust and hatred.

  • admonish: warn or reprimand someone firmly.

  • cynicism: an inclination to believe that people are motivated purely by self-interest.

  • coalesce: come together to form one mass or whole.

  • bestow: confer or present (an honor, right or gift).

  • galvanic: sudden and dramatic.

  • picayune: of little value or significance; petty.

  • eccentric: (of a person or their behavior) unconventional and slightly strange.

  • consummate: make (a marriage or relationship) complete by having sexual intercourse; showing great skill and flair.

Do you feel as if you lack self-confidence? Having no faith in oneself could be a sign of such. And once you do not have faith in yourself how do you expect to have faith in others, to trust others and do anything with anyone for that matter? Build a deeper, prosperous relationship within you and see how things will change for the better. Remind yourself of your definite purpose and go at it. Commit to a task and complete it.

Some lines that stood out to me:

  • “Faith is a state of mind that which you will develop at will.”

  • “I will induce others to serve me, because of my willingness to serve others.”

  • “If you think you are beaten, you are,

If you think you dare not, you don’t.

If you like to win, but you think you can’t,

It is almost certain you won’t.

If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost,

For out in the world we find,

Success begins with a fellow’s will-

It’s all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are,

You’ve got to think high to rise,

You’ve got to be sure of yourself before

You can ever win a prize.

    “Life’s battles don’t always go

To the stronger of faster man,

But soon or late the man who wins

Is the man WHO THINKS HE CAN!”

See you tomorrow.
