Chapter 7: “PLAY GAMES TO LEARN”
For this chapter I couldn’t necessarily relate to what Robert was attempting to say because I didn’t really play games relating to money growing up, other than a little monopoly a couple times. Or am I looking at it from too much of a direct perspective or face value? There’s a probability that life itself can teach you about any and everything you want to know, right? I guess I just have to open my eyes a bit more.

Would I consider selling Icools (juices) in 3rd form, making rock cakes in 5th form and selling fruits in upper 6 “playing games”? Well, I never used monopoly money to buy so I guess not, lol. Hmm, I actually haven’t experienced anything in life at the moment. It’s safe to say that I’m quite young indeed.
To be honest, there wasn’t much to expound on so…..
Some lines that stood out to me:
- “Playing games is like getting a vitamin-packed dose of real life in a safe and entertaining setting.”
- “This (playing games) is instant experience without spending real money. With a game, we can get the benefit of years of experience in just a few hours of playing. The game allows you to see (in a very short amount of time) that you have financial options.”
- “I notice that rich people who play the game don’t even sit on the sidelines. They participate, they’re creative. And they calculate risks, meaning that they think through their plan with great care, even though the plan might be considered risky to others.”
- “Financial intelligence means creativity in solving financial problems.”
- “If an opportunity lands in your lap and you have no money and the bank won’t give you a loan, what else can you do to get the opportunity to work in your favor? If what you’ve been counting on doesn’t happen, how can you turn a lemon into lemonade- or in this case, millions?”
- “When you are out of school, your banker will not ask you for your report card. He will ask you for your financial statement.”
I’ll be right back here tmr.
